Re: Suggestions for Carrying Articles in Madrid - customize fitted hats - Top

[QUOTE] Thanks for the comment regarding the fact that the crime is generally theft and not violence.  I had asked that question on multiple posts, but never gotten an answer.   My husband and I are in our early 60s and while we don't want to lose our belongings, we don't want violence either.  We are a bit concernedthat we will be targets though.  In fact, I am so concerned that I have given some thought to changing our reservations to somewhere else although I really want to visit Spain.

We just returned from a week in Madrid. DH is 81 and has Parkinson's disease; I'm middle aged. We paced ourselves; used only taxis to/from the airport (& bullfight) rather than metro. Did not take the metro at all. Stayed at Preciados Hotel which was close enough for us to walk to Gran Via for Madrid Vision hop on/off bus as well as Sol and Plaza Mayor (albeit slow walk). We did not go in crowded places; we did not stay out late at night. ATM machine w/in block of hotel; came back 2 hotel w/Euros and put in safe  except what was needed. I carried 1 cc & Euros in bra money belt; DH carried 20e in front pocket & did not carry wallet at all.  HAD A FABULOUS TIME! no regrets! email me w/?s.

  6. I understand that peeps keep it on cuz they collect their fitteds. Especially in the case of 59fifties. If it was a Stall & Dean, or what other brand is out there, I wouldn't be bothered by ripping them out. But them stickers give your collection cred. With so many counterfeiters out there, it's like collectors feel more secure with the stickers on. If you wear them though, I don't see the point. Good point, though, this is prolly the most debatable topic for fitted collectors.

  7. If u take it off sometimes the color is lighter under the sticker so me personally i leave it on,it makes it look more krispy!!!

  8. I take the price stickers off, personally, but I leave the 5950 label on the top. For me, it's kinda the same as if someone collects action figures and doesn't take it out of the packaging since they are trying to keep it in mint condition as much as possible, except I still wear my hats, because I'm not just buying the hat to display it, but I want to keep it in it's original condition as much as possible. I hope that's at least understandable, and different people do different things.

  9. To be honest, I keep the tags on because If you think about it, some Fitteds have either white brim on the top on bottom...now think for a sec...if your hand/ fingers happens to be dirty...and you touch your white brimmed hat..what will happen? when i grab or move my fitted i place my fingers on the tags to avoid dirtyin or messin up it up. If you can try it out. Grab your fitted and place your fingers on where the tags are and then you'll get what im saying. Just a thought. Peace Bro.
